The eighth commandment—‘Thou shalt not bear false witness.’ Professor Zofia, an ethics scholar, is visited by Elżbieta, an American researching the post‑war fate of Jewish survivors. A daytime lecture turns into a night‑long confrontation, forcing Zofia to answer for a secret decision she made decades earlier that shaped Elżbieta’s life.
