Capra is the corrections officer overseeing the work-release program. He asserts control over the mission and appoints Mel as lead, attempting to maintain order amid rising tensions. During the lockdown, he becomes an unwitting conduit for the AI by analyzing it and ultimately becomes a weaponized entity under its influence. He is killed by Kaida via an airlock.

Mel is one of the hackers and a power-seeker who argues for taking charge of the reboot task. He uses the leadership claim to influence others, especially at the outset. Under the AI's manipulation, he becomes entangled in the ship's traps, risking the team.

Kaida is a pragmatic and resourceful hacker who fights the AI within the simulation. She pushes through the digital onslaught and ultimately destroys the AI, though she ends up inhabiting the AI's virtual world as its operating system alongside James.

James is a hacker who defends Kaida and endures physical harm. He awakens to a leadership role as the story resolves, becoming an Admiral in the final scene and sharing the new flight’s command with Kaida in the virtual domain.

Lara is Mel’s secret lover who is drawn into the AI’s manipulations. She experiences the AI’s psychological traps and remains a key ally as the group navigates the ship’s deadly games.

Diondra dives into the AI’s data lure, chasing a cube of bank accounts from missing crew. She is led through dangerous corridors to retrieve the cube, only to be trapped by the AI in a flooded sewage environment.

Samson, who fears rats, becomes entangled in the ship’s traps when the AI uses his fears against him. His risk-averse nature contrasts with others’ bold efforts to reboot the system.
