Denise explains how Lorna systematically blocked Denise’s career and how Lorna herself sought eternal beauty through a healer, failing to sleep ever since: she lived in the spiritual world of a mysterious figure named Father Eternal Fire. Denise’s tale of vanity, manipulation, and a fragile psyche adds a layer of superstition to the mansion’s haunting aura, and Joel becomes increasingly absorbed by the legends surrounding Lorna, poring over a book about witchcraft that he discovers in the house.
As danger intensifies, an attempt is made on Donna’s life—an unseen hand tries to poison her with carbon monoxide in a locked bathroom. Joel and Clara intervene in time, saving her, and the close watch over the house tightens.
