Set in 1996 Punjab, India, the story follows Canadian‑born Jassi, whose privileged background clashes with her growing love for Mithu, a rickshaw driver from a lower social stratum. Their pure, unconditional bond is tested as Jassi must confront her family’s expectations and the rigid conventions of Punjabi society. The narrative explores whether their love can survive the pressure of tradition and family honour.
