In a town where wives cling to the vow “till death do us part,” Dr. Carter Elson finds a mysterious list of men’s names among his wife Alex’s belongings, his own at the bottom and several dead men among the entries. With his friend‑agent Betty, he races to decipher the list before his name climbs to the top. Meanwhile Alex, a small‑town social climber married to the ambitious doctor, befriends two similarly unhappy wives (Sonja Smits, Donna Pescow) and joins their plot to shorten the deadly list.
