Fame Douglas, the founder and CEO of DOATEC, was killed at the end of the 20th century. His death sent shockwaves throughout the combat community as he was known for sponsoring the legendary Dead or Alive World Combat Championship.

Following Douglas's death, the world descended into chaos, with increased violence and instability. The absence of strong leadership within the combat community fueled the tensions, prompting fears about the future of competitive fighting.

In the midst of the chaos, it was announced that the second Dead or Alive World Combat Championship would take place. This announcement reignited hopes and ambitions among fighters, but also raised concerns about who would lead the tournament.

Victor Donovan emerged as the promoter of the second Dead or Alive Championship, revealing himself to be a corrupt and evil mastermind. His sinister agenda began to alter the tournament's purpose, creating an atmosphere of fear and hostility.

Donovan's influence culminated in the infamous Tengu disaster, a catastrophic event that shook the world. The disaster was a grim indication of the chaos that Donovan's greed and malice could unleash upon humanity.

Less than a year after the first tournament, Gohyakumine Bankotsubo, known as Tengu, escaped from his realm. His arrival in the human world posed a severe threat to peace and stability, as he dismissed human accomplishments as mere illusions.

Kasumi, the winner of the first tournament, was captured by the DOATEC Super-human Development Project. She was forcefully used in experiments aiming to create a superhuman body, displaying the organization's ruthless pursuit of power.

While she was being held captive, a clone known as 'Kasumi X' was created from her genetic material. This clone posed a significant threat as it embodied the same abilities as the original Kasumi, but with nefarious intentions.

Kasumi's brother, Hayate, who had previously faced injuries inflicted by Raidou, was also captured. He was subjected to inhumane experimentation as part of DOATEC’s bio-weapon project, where modifications to his nervous system ultimately failed.

Ryu Hayabusa, a formidable warrior from Ninja Gaiden, entered the second Dead or Alive tournament. He vowed to confront his nemesis, the evil Tengu, despite the dangers that the tournament posed to every competitor.

Hayabusa attempted to warn other fighters, including Jann Lee, about the perils of the tournament. However, his efforts were met with resistance as many fighters were determined to proceed, leading Hayabusa to eliminate those competitors himself.

During the tournament, Hayabusa encountered a fighter named Ein, who turned out to be his friend Hayate afflicted with amnesia. In their duel, Hayabusa successfully defeated Ein and managed to rekindle fragments of Hayate's lost memories.
