Nuria is secretly having an affair with her brother-in-law Esteban. The two plot to kill Bernardo and make it look like an accident so they can be together and inherit the family business.

After defeating Esteban in the brutal toolshed duel, Bernardo turns aggressive and chases Nuria through the woods. He falls into a bear trap, and Nuria kills him with the shotgun he was carrying.
