Michael Newman, portrayed by Adam Sandler, is an architect happily married to his longtime love, Donna, and they have two children, Ben and Samantha. However, Michael often finds himself bending to the will of his overbearing boss, Mr. Ammer (David Hasselhoff). Determined to provide his family with a better life than he had, he frequently sacrifices precious time with them for work.
In a surprising turn of events, Michael visits Bed Bath & Beyond in search of a universal remote. During his visit, he accidentally falls onto a bed and stumbles into the elusive section labeled "Beyond." There, he encounters a mysterious clerk named Morty, who hands him a unique remote control, cautioned that it can never be returned.
