Chinthamani Kolacase

Lal Krishna Viradiyar alias L.K is a psychotic and ruthless criminal lawyer with an enigmatic mission: to help hardened criminals slip through the cracks of the legal system by efficiently managing their cases and arguing lack of evidence. Once they are acquitted, he pursues them in a chilling display of vigilante justice, blurring the line between legal manipulation and personal retribution.

Isra Khureshi, an LLB graduate who stands accused of killing his teacher Rasiya, hires Lal Krishna Viradiyar as his lawyer and invites him to a party at a farmhouse to celebrate a supposed victory. Lal Krishna Viradiyar arrives at the gathering and carries out a brutal act, killing Khureshi and asserting that it is his duty to wipe out evil forces to maintain law and order, even if it means taking the law into his own hands. The scene establishes a pattern: legal help as a shield, and violent justice as the follow-up.

In a subsequent move, Lal Krishna targets another gangster, David Rajarathnam, a Pondicherry-based criminal accused of assaulting his daughter. The killer’s method remains cold and calculated, reinforcing his self-appointed role as a detached arbiter who operates beyond conventional justice.

ASP Jagannivasan has been watching Lal Krishna for a long time, growing increasingly suspicious of his unorthodox methods. Despite mounting concern and evidence gaps, the state officer is unable to pin him down, yet the tension between order and chaos intensifies as the case threads converge toward a larger conspiracy.

Lal Krishna then takes on the Mirchi Girls case, a group of seven wealthy NRIs accused of ragging and the murder of their conservative college mate, Chinthamani. Chinthamani’s plight becomes the central emotional and moral tension of the courtroom saga. Her father Veeramani Warrier fights hard for justice, while Kannayiram Parameswaran, a renowned public prosecutor, defends the girls with his distinctive argumentative style. The courtroom battle is long and fraught, and Lal Krishna’s influence begins to tilt the scales in favor of the Mirchi Girls, at least superficially.

As the trial unfolds, a grim truth emerges: Kannayiram Parameswaran and the college principal Dr. Kim Sudarshan are the true killers of Chinthamani. The investigation reveals a web of interests beyond the classroom, with Kannayiram as a silent partner in the medical college who profits from selling seats. Chinthamani’s fate is tied to a cruel sequence that includes sending her to Sudarshan’s house at the behest of the conniving hostel warden Volga, pressing her to withdraw her admission, and a brutal assault that leads to her death and the framing of the Mirchi Girls.

In the aftermath, Lal Krishna makes a sweeping, violent move to deliver direct justice: he kills Kannayiram Parameswaran and Dr. Kim Sudarshan to avenge Chinthamani and honor Veeramani Warrier’s struggle for justice. The fallout is complex and morally ambiguous, highlighting a clash between the legal system’s limits and one man’s willingness to dispense his own brand of justice.

Throughout these events, Jagannivasan remains an observer who understands the broader truth but cannot place Lal Krishna under formal arrest due to insufficient evidence. His reluctant respect for Lal Krishna’s resolve lingers, underscoring the uneasy balance between the letter of the law and the brutality of vigilante action. The story weaves a dense tapestry of power, corruption, and the cost of pursuing justice outside traditional channels.
