Chimmie is dispatched to Death Valley, California, as part of a railroad ploy. He must fake a gold discovery and then attempt to break a transcontinental eastbound record, but the scheme quickly unravels. Harsh desert conditions and logistical mishaps sabotage the ruse, leaving his plans in tatters.
