In 1969 Michel Auder began video diaries of downtown New York’s art scene. Chelsea Girls with Andy Warhol records intimate moments: the 1970 Whitney Museum retrospective opening, a heated phone call among Warhol, Viva and Brigid Berlin, and an interview with Larry Rivers after the 1975 publication of The Philosophy of Andy Warhol. The film also shows Viva’s threatening letters demanding money after she left the Factory in 1969.
