Chembattunadu, a village in the Palakkad district of Kerala, is popularly known as Chattambinadu, a place long plagued by the glare of goons and local feuds. Here, the fragile peace is tested by the simmering rivalry between the Mallanchira and Kattappilly clans, a history that has drawn in a string of tough men and split loyalties. The story follows the enigmatic figure of Veerendra Mallayya, Mammootty, a wealthy and feared gangster with deep roots in real estate who travels from Karnataka to this tense landscape, bringing his own code of power and protection. On the opposite side stands Kottappally Nagendran, Siddique, the present head of the Kattappilly faction, whose ambition is as brutal as his tactics. The village’s uneasy balance is further complicated by the scheming of Mallanchira Chandramohan, Manoj K Jayan, who intends to sell his ancestral mansion to cover heavy debts, hoping to secure his family’s future but inviting a sharp clash with Nagendran.

Mallayya’s entrance is marked by resistance and intrigue. Chandramohan’s plan to offload the mansion sets the stage for direct confrontation, yet the local police inspector hints at a powerful ally in Veeru’s legend—rumors that Mallayya could be the one to bring order or chaos depending on the moment. Initially, Mallayya refuses the offer to buy the property, choosing instead to keep his own counsel. But a heartfelt appeal from Dr. Lakshmi, a guest from the village who seeks sanctuary and fairness, nudges him toward buying the mansion and stepping into the fray. Mallayya arrives with Murukan, his devoted secretary and rough surrogate brother, a duo whose loyalties are as strong as their sense of justice. Together, they face the simmering half-truths and open hostility of the village, where the line between protector and aggressor is often blurred.

As the tension thickens, a key ploy is sprung by Dasamoolam Damu, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Nagendran’s bumbling assistant. Under Nagendran’s orders, Damu steals Mallayya’s lorry and crashes it into Vadivaal Vaasu’s house, demolishing it. The act is meant to spark fear and disarray, but Mallayya pledges to repair the damage with his own money, signaling that he will not abandon those in trouble. Murukan, who has grown close to Meenakshi, the strong-minded Meenakshi resident of the village, accompanies Mallayya and Maakri Gopalan, Salim Kumar, a wry ally with his own code of ethics, to Mallayya’s house, deepening the bonds of an uneasy alliance.

Love and jealousy weave through the lives of the villagers as Gowri, Raai Laxmi, Vasu’s elder daughter, watches the evolving relationship between Mallayya and Meenakshi with a mix of admiration and envy. Meenakshi’s arrival as Dr. Lakshmi—someone with ties to Lakshmi’s past and a need for protection—adds a layer of vulnerability to the plot. Gowri mistakes the growing closeness between Mallayya and Lakshmi for romance and becomes increasingly unsettled, while Murukan’s own softer feelings toward Meenakshi complicate matters further.

The backstory behind Veeru’s true identity rises to the foreground as Mallayya reveals a painful chapter from years ago. Veeru, a Kannadiga street urchin who spoke little Malayalam, was taken in by Unnithan and his family after a violent confrontation during a fateful trip. Unnithan’s care and trust formed a bond that was tested when a money stash belonging to Nagendran’s father was at the heart of the dispute. A deadly clash ensued when Kuruppu, seeking to seize the money, forced Veeru to flee after an attempt to protect Unnithan. The revelation that Kuruppu was involved in the crime complicates the village’s sense of justice, and Mallayya’s own past emerges as a fulcrum around which the entire conflict pivots.

Meanwhile, Nagendran presses ahead with his plan to marry Lakshmi, a scheme that Mallayya thwarts by ensuring Lakshmi’s marriage to her intended fiancé instead. The old inspector, now serving as the father of Lakshmi’s husband, signals his willingness to help reveal the truth—but Nagendran murders him on the same night, fueling the crowd’s fury. The villagers, aware that Mallayya is Veeru and expecting vengeance, gather at the scene, ready to settle scores. In a dramatic turn, Mallayya confronts the truth with courage, and Nagendran’s machinations are laid bare before the crowd.

The climactic sequence culminates not in a formal trial but in collective judgment. The people of Chattambinadu, stirred by the revelation of Mallayya’s innocence and his long-standing commitment to the village, rise up against Nagendran. The plan to destroy the town’s stability is reversed as the crowd enacts its own justice, and Nagendran is eliminated by the very hands that sought to protect the community. The film resolves with Mallayya’s name cleared, the balance of power restored, and the village learning to coexist with its past, empowered by a new-found sense of unity and lawfulness.
