Aman Kapoor Rahul Bose is a wealthy investment banker, whose pregnant wife Rinke Khanna Neha was killed in a car accident more than a decade ago. The loss leaves him depressed and lonely, and while social obligations pull him into a party he would rather skip, the storm’s moodiness pushes him toward retreat. As heavy rain floods the road, his car breaks down, his phone dies, and he seeks shelter in a lone alley where he meets Chameli Kareena Kapoor Khan, a street-smart prostitute. Their encounter unfolds over a single, rain-soaked night that will redefine both of their lives.

Chameli offers Aman a cigarette, and his initial repulsion gives way to wary curiosity as she propositions him. The moment of tension eases when two police officers arrive, demanding a bribe, and they harass Chameli. Aman’s discomfort grows, but Chameli’s calm, quick deflection shifts the dynamic; she defuses the confrontation, and a conversation about their lives begins to soften his guarded exterior. The night introduces a cast of recurring figures: Johnny, a young boy who sells coffee and cigarettes and promises to return with a mechanic; Raja, a reckless young man who has stolen a sum of money from his father and is in love with Haseena; and Haseena, a trans woman who playfully tests Aman’s boundaries. Chameli’s guidance and her concern for Johnny’s schooling and health reveal a tenderness behind her streetwise exterior. Raja’s fear that his beloved Haseena has fled to become a prostitute deepens the night’s drama, prompting Chameli to intervene and counsel him to move on. As Raja’s father—a protective but bigoted figure—arrives, the tension cools when it becomes clear their paths do not cross with him, and Chameli continues to weave a chance for connection between strangers.

Meanwhile, Chameli’s world is not without danger. Her pimp Usman has rented her out to Naik, a brutish local politician with a notorious reputation for violence, and Chameli fears contracting an STD that has already affected others in her circle. Naik’s henchmen track Chameli, forcing her and Aman to seek shelter in a bar where Chameli explains she owes Usman money and cannot escape his control. Aman offers to pay off Chameli’s debt if she stays away from Naik, a gesture that deepens their uneasy reliance on one another. The night spirals into a crisis when Usman demands more money at an ATM; a struggle ensues, and Usman is stabbed. Police detain Aman and Chameli, and Aman’s arched temper lands him in a holding cell, while Chameli negotiates a path to safety.

Chameli persuades the officers to let Aman call a friend with ties to the Assistant Commissioner of Police K.P. Singh. Singh orders a measured approach: he withdraws formal police protection from Usman, who is now exposed to the city’s ruthless underworld. Chameli warns that removing protection endangers Usman and his family, but Singh reluctantly keeps some protection in place. At the hospital, Singh compels Usman to call Naik, and his threats force Naik to back off Chameli. The nurse’s ward becomes a quiet courtroom as the law’s reach tests the balance between power and vulnerability.

Emerging from the hospital, Chameli playfully questions Aman about how his wife might react to what has happened, and the weight of his loss breaks through in a raw confession. Aman explains that he feels responsible for Neha’s death, admitting that driving through the heavy rains was a choice that cost him dearly. Dawn arrives, casting a pale light on a changed man who has learned to face his grief. He reopens a connection with his late wife’s family, reaching out to his father-in-law after a long absence, and, perhaps most unexpectedly, he finds a renewed sense of purpose. The night’s events slowly reshape his outlook on life, and as the sun climbs higher, Aman returns to Chameli’s world with a new sense of hope and a willingness to engage with the complexities of love, loss, and redemption. He eventually returns to see Chameli again, carrying the weight of the night but also the possibility of a different tomorrow.
