Aya Mikage and her twin brother Aki are called to their family home for a birthday celebration that is actually a test. On her sixteenth birthday Aya learns she harbors the reincarnated spirit of an ageless celestial maiden (tennyo) who seeks to recover her heavenly robe (hagoromo) and bring ruin to the Mikage line. Failing the test separates her from Aki and turns her into a hunted outcast within her own family.
