Hakuoro awakens with amnesia and a mysterious mask after an injury. He is rescued by a woman and her granddaughter Eruruu, who care for him in a village where residents have ears and, for women, tails. He experiences strange beastly visions. The villagers revere nature, but when an altar is defiled they must act to avoid Mutikapa‑sama's wrath.
