Miles Axlerod orchestrated the entire World Grand Prix as a scheme to discredit alternative fuels and protect the oil industry. At the end of the film, Finn and Holley invite Mater to go on another spy mission, but he declines, choosing to stay in Radiator Springs with his friends.
