Camp Takota

Elise Miller, a twenty-something publishing assistant, completes her first book, which includes themes of unrequited love and the Loch Ness Monster. She is engaged to Jeff Sanford, and both are preparing for their future together.

At her job, Elise accidentally witnesses her boss, Celia Burrows, making out with Walker Paige. She unintentionally uploads photos of the incident to the book’s Facebook page, which leads to her losing her job as a consequence.

Elise returns home only to find out that Jeff has been cheating on her. Heartbroken, she leaves her apartment and spirals into despair, deciding to reconnect with her childhood at Camp Takota.

Elise, drunk and emotional, calls Sally Meister, the head camp counselor, and declares her intention to go back to camp after eight years. The next morning, she changes her mind and decides to head to Camp Takota anyway.

Elise arrives at camp with the Fefferman family and reunites with old friends Maxine Reynolds and Allison Henry, now working at the camp, as she begins her new role as a camp counselor. She struggles with embracing the camp experience.

During a gathering, Elise opens up to Maxine and Allison about her recent troubles, including her work issues, her breakup, and her desire to be happier. They invite her to a night of partying at Maxine’s home, offering her comfort and support.

While at Maxine’s party, Elise notices Eli, a farmer and friend of Allison and Maxine. Later, Eli gives Elise a ride back to camp, and their mutual attraction begins to grow as Eli shares his past relationship struggles.

Jared Meister and his assistant seek to modernize the camp with digital initiatives, while Sally reveals that Camp Takota may close unless it secures enough pre-registrations for the next year. Elise, Maxine, and Allison resolve to save the camp.

Celia Burrows offers Elise her job back and a publishing deal if she returns the next day. Elise faces a dilemma between her career ambitions and her newfound happiness at camp, leading to a heated argument with Maxine.

Elise initially plans to leave after receiving her career offer but ultimately decides to stay at camp, returning to her friends and embracing her camp life, which she values more than her career prospects.

On the last day of camp, coinciding with Visitor’s Day, Elise, Maxine, and Allison perform a dance, symbolizing their friendship. The camp’s future looks hopeful as they rally to prevent its closure.

Jared's plan to replace Camp Takota is halted when the campers pre-register in large numbers, ensuring the camp’s survival. Eli is introduced to the campers as a writer, adding a new dynamic to camp life.

Jeff arrives to take Elise home, but she refuses, revealing she has a new relationship with Eli. Jeff fights Eli in a tense confrontation, which ultimately ends with Jeff leaving in shame.

The next day, more campers pre-register, securing the camp’s future. Elise, Maxine, and Allison enjoy a quiet moment, reflecting on their friendship and the camp’s importance before parting ways.

A year later, Maxine becomes the head camp counselor, Allison trains to be a chef in Chicago, and Elise’s book 'Cabin Fever,' inspired by her experiences at Camp Takota, is published with a character resembling Penny, symbolizing her growth and success.
