Bunohan: Return to Murder

Pok Eng's fame as a shadow puppeteer fades after the local Islamist government bans the performances. The ban undermines his livelihood and strains the family life in Bunohan, Kelantan.

Ilham, the eldest son, leaves home at a young age following his parents' divorce. His sudden departure seeds long-standing tensions that echo through the brothers' later conflicts.

Pok Eng remarries to Mek Na after the divorce and, with her, fathers two more sons, Bakar and Adil. This expands the family and sets the stage for future land struggles and rivalries.

Adil, the youngest, leaves five years ago to pursue kickboxing despite mounting debts. He crosses the border and becomes entangled in an illegal high-stakes death match, risking his life for money.

During the brutal bout, Muski bursts into the ring and breaks up the illegal fight. Adil and Muski then return to Bunohan and seek refuge at Pok Wah's swamp.

Bakar, the middle son, returns from Klang Valley with a polished pose of concern, but his true aim is to pressure their father into selling the land to a Kuala Lumpur corporation for a huge profit.

Peng, one of the fight organizers, sends Ilham to Bunohan with orders to locate and kill Adil. On arrival, Ilham learns that he and the fugitive boxer are half-brothers and begins digging into their mother's grave for closure.

Bakar enlists Jolok to help steal the family land, hoping to profit and extend influence. Pok Eng resists, insisting the land isn't truly his to sell.

Part of the land is repurposed as Pok Wah's fight club, tying debt, tradition, and power to the property. Jolok leverages Awang Sonar's debt so he can demand repayment in land.

Before the final fight, Bakar arranges for Muski to fight Adil, promising to cover his mother's medical bills. Jolok rigs the match by poisoning Adil's medication to tilt the odds against him.

In the fifth round, Muski unwittingly kills his own best friend in the ring. Meanwhile, Pok Wah conducts a cleansing ritual on his land as the village watches in stunned silence.

Amid the chaos, Bakar arrives and murders his own father, Pok Eng, shattering any sense of family unity. This act accelerates the collapse of the clan's legacy and power over the land.

Ilham confronts Peng and pleads for mercy, but Peng stabs him and leaves him to die on the swamp. The betrayal cements the tragedy of the brothers' fates.

Mek Na's spirit returns as the guardian of the land and asks Pok Eng to join her. He refuses, claiming his duty is to raise their sons and finish his work on earth.

With the family fractured and the land under Bakar's control, a board announces the development of a new holiday resort on the former family property. The film closes on this hollow renewal of the clan's fortunes.
