Bullet Boy

Ricky Ashley Walters has just been released from prison when his eccentric and naive friend Wisdom collects him, eager to prove himself in their neighbourhood. On the drive back, Wisdom accidentally breaks a wing mirror off Godfrey’s car, a local gang member, sparking a confrontation that Ricky tries to defuse by pulling Wisdom away and keeping the peace. Later, Wisdom returns a gun to Ricky, who hides it in his bedroom, a room he shares with his younger brother, Curtis Luke Fraser. Curtis discovers the weapon and hides it away for his brother.

Wisdom chases Godfrey after claiming he’s scared to fight and, in a display of brutality, shoots Godfrey’s Staffordshire bull terrier—the animal used to threaten Wisdom earlier. In retaliation, Godfrey and an associate wreck Wisdom’s car with a baseball bat and drive past his home shouting that he is “dead.” With danger closing in, Wisdom tries to kill Godfrey but is seen by his rival, and the attempt fails.

As the two flee, Curtis accidentally shoots his friend Rio when Rio suggests they take the gun out and play with it. Their mother, seeing the escalating danger, asks Ricky to go home, pack his belongings, and leave while they’re at church, hoping this pause might give Curtis a chance to steer away from the gang life.

Before heading home, Ricky goes to Wisdom’s house to collect money Wisdom told him to take, only to find Wisdom dead, presumably at the hands of his rival. He lingers there for a long moment before leaving. He sends Curtis to the takeaway to grab a kebab, and when Curtis returns, Ricky has already departed. As Ricky waits at the train station, hooded figures begin to close in around him.

When he tries to flee, Godfrey and his gang gun him down. Ricky’s body is later identified, and the film closes with Curtis reclaiming the gun from its hiding spot and tossing it into the river, a stark image of violence traveling through generations.
