Bones

In 1979, Jimmy Bones, a beloved numbers runner and protector, is betrayed and murdered by corrupt cop Lupovich and drug dealer Eddie Mack. They force his associates, Jeremiah and Shotgun, to take turns stabbing him to death, while Pearl attempts suicide but is spared by Jimmy's protective spirit. After his death, Pearl buries him with his dress, and Bones' elegant brownstone becomes his tomb and is sealed off from the neighborhood.

The Bones house remains closed and haunted for years, its halls echoing with Jimmy's unresolved rage. As the neighborhood slips into drug and crime, his absence seems to clear the way for ruin. Pearl's dress lies buried with him, anchoring his spirit to the living world.

Twenty-two years later, four teens—Patrick, Bill, their stepsister Tia, and their friend Maurice—buy the Bones house to turn it into a nightclub. They ignore the building's haunted history and press forward with their plans. The house is reborn as a site of new ambition and old danger.

As construction begins, Tia discovers a black dog that is revealed to be the physical manifestation of Jimmy Bones' spirit. The creature drains life from victims and signals Jimmy's gradual return from the grave. Its presence taints the club atmosphere with a deadly aura.

Patrick, Cynthia, Bill, Tia, and Maurice explore the basement and uncover Jimmy Bones' remains. They realize he was murdered twenty-two years earlier and decide to keep quiet about the truth, burying the evidence again. The secret ties the group to the house's cursed past.

Jeremiah, the boys' father and Tia's stepfather, learns of the plan to reopen the house as a nightclub and tries to force them out. He opposes the venture and warns them not to disturb the place that once hid a killer. The family conflict sets the stage for a deadly clash over the house.

On opening night, Maurice is lured into an upstairs room and mauled by the black dog, signaling Jimmy's full resurrection. Panic erupts as the club becomes a battleground for the living and the dead. The spirit of Jimmy Bones asserts control over the house once more.

Jimmy begins his vengeful rampage against those who betrayed him and profited from his death. Shotgun, now an alcoholic haunted by guilt, laments that burning the building long ago might have saved them all. Pearl learns that Jimmy is her father, a revelation that complicates her fear and loyalty.

Jimmy directly confronts Shotgun and mercy-kills him as an act of forgiveness. Patrick confronts his father, demanding to know if he helped murder Jimmy. Jeremiah admits betraying Bones to profit and letting drugs into the neighborhood for money.

Jimmy tracks down Eddie Mack and decapitates him, then does the same to Lupovich, keeping their heads as living vessels for their souls. He returns their severed heads to the old house as trophies of his return. The two men are sent to hell as Jimmy intensifies his control over the site.

Pearl and Cynthia try to rescue Jeremiah, but they are too late as Jimmy drags him away. The group watches as Jeremiah disappears into the spirit world, while the heads of Lupovich and Mack remain as grotesque reminders. The haunting tightens its grip on the living.

Learning that destroying the bloody dress buried with Jimmy is the only way to put him to rest, the survivors plan to break the anchor. Pearl explains that the dress carries Jimmy's blood and keeps him tethered to the world of the living. They prepare to act on the plan to finally release him.

Pearl embraces Jimmy's memory and sacrifices herself by using a candle to set herself and the dress on fire. The inferno consumes the room and Jimmy's spirit burns away with Pearl. The survivors escape, convinced the haunting is ended.

Patrick and Cynthia flee the burning building, barely making it out as the house collapses around them. The neighborhood is left to confront the trauma of Jimmy's reign and the cost of disturbing his tomb. The closing image hints that Jimmy's legacy may linger in the shadows.

Outside, Patrick finds an old picture of Jimmy and Pearl, and Jimmy's ghostly presence seems to speak through him with the line, 'Dog eat dog, boy.' In a final twist, Cynthia is revealed to be possessed by Jimmy's blood, smiling at Patrick before she spits a mouthful of maggots in his face. The film closes on a chilling omen that Jimmy's power may survive beyond the burning house.
