Kiba is an invincible professional bodyguard from the Kaito Karate dojo. He is a calm, formidable presence who agrees to escort Junpei back to retrieve the stolen loot and protect him from the Soryu Group. Beyond his fighting skills, he mentors Junpei in restraint and tactical thinking.

Junpei is a hot-headed, calculating low-level yakuza from the Soryu Group who steals 500 million yen to start a new life with his girlfriend. He is sentenced to five years in prison and hires Kiba to escort him back to the loot and to Yoko, making him the target of relentless pursuit.

Yoko is Junpei's girlfriend, a Taiwanese prostitute who has become addicted to heroin. She is coerced into becoming Shinjo's mole to advance his narcotics operation. In the rooftop climax, she kills Shinjo and then herself to end the manipulation, making her fate the emotional core of the film's tragic ending.

Yoko's addiction and forced cooperation early in the film foreshadow her tragic decision at the end.

Shinjo is the boss of the Soryu Group and a calculating criminal mastermind who manipulates events from behind the scenes. He orchestrates the kidnapping of Maki and the heroin operation to pressure Junpei and use Yoko as a pawn. He is killed in the rooftop confrontation when Yoko sacrifices herself.

Tetsugen Daito is the head of the Daito Karate school. When Kiba receives a formal challenge, Daito accepts it on Kiba's behalf and defeats all challengers unarmed. His role underscores the competitive nature of karate schools and their pride in defending their reputation.

Violence exacts a cruel price on all characters throughout the film. The ending is bittersweet, Junpei and Kiba survive, but at great personal cost.
