Émile Fornet (Émile Genest), handler of Haggin’s hunting dogs, and his wife Therese (Janette Bertrand), the cook and housekeeper, live in a house on the estate. Haggin buys Red, the Irish setter that won the Montreal Kennel Club show, to start a top line of show dogs.
