Furuta Oribe is compelled by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to become the new tea master after his mentor, the legendary Sen no Rikyū, is forced to commit suicide. Outraged by the sight of Rikyū’s severed head cast into the Nijo River, Princess Goh—Hideyoshi’s adopted daughter and heir of a lord—orders Usu, Oribe’s loyal servant, to recover the head and deliver it to Rikyū’s adopted daughter.
