Ballerina

In the 1880s, Félicie, an eleven-year-old orphan, runs away from rural Brittany with her best friend Victor to chase a dream of dancing in Paris. Victor is a young inventor who harbors feelings for Félicie, and he accompanies her on the journey. They set out with little more than hope and a plan to find a better future.

The city overwhelms them, and the two are soon separated by circumstance. Victor lands a modest job as an office boy in Gustave Eiffel's workshop, while Félicie begins to navigate Paris on her own.

Félicie slips into the Paris Opera to glimpse the world she longs to join but is caught trespassing by a guard. Odette, a cleaner with a limp who works there, intervenes and offers Félicie shelter while she gets on her feet.

While Odette cleans, Félicie watches Camille practicing ballet. Camille sneers at Félicie and throws Félicie's cherished music box out of a window, breaking it.

Félicie intercepts a letter announcing Camille's admission to the Paris Opera Ballet School. In a fit of anger and ambition, she hides the letter and decides to take Camille's place to pursue her dream.

Odette agrees to mentor Félicie and reveals that she is a former prima ballerina. Félicie begins intense training as she learns the rigors of technique and discipline.

Mérante, the school's exacting choreographer, announces that one girl will be chosen to dance Clara in The Nutcracker. Félicie makes rapid progress, and her bold performance in a bar scene catches Mérante's reluctant admiration.

Two days before the final elimination, Félicie's deception is discovered. Mérante decides to admit Camille into the class while also allowing Félicie to stay, recognizing a powerful dancer despite the infraction.

On the night before the crucial audition, Félicie neglects training for a date with Rudi, causing tension with Odette. The next day, she is late and unable to perform well, and Camille wins the role of Clara.

Regine Le Haut sends Félicie back to the orphanage, draining her spirit. She dreams of her late mother and of the music box that started her journey.

Félicie goes back to Paris to help Odette and apologize to Victor. Backstage, she and Camille engage in a dance battle witnessed by Odette and Mérante; Camille admits she dances because her mother forces her, while Félicie proclaims that dance is an inheritance and passion.

Near Gustave Eiffel's workshop, Régine chases Félicie to the crown, and Victor arrives with Camille to help. Félicie reaches the Opera just in time, dons Odette's pointe shoes, and performs The Nutcracker with the principal ballerina, sealing her dream with a kiss to Victor.
