After his wife Molla abandons him, Reima Elo becomes despondent and attempts suicide. Shunned by his fellow villagers, who ridicule him for his communist beliefs, his life takes an unexpected turn when a charismatic Russian visitor, a spitting‑image of Lenin called Vladimir, intervenes and saves him, offering a sudden, if unlikely, chance at redemption.
