In 1918, workers from Petrograd travel to the Altai region to establish the first agricultural commune. Despite hostility from local White Army Cossacks, they build houses and cultivate the land, gradually winning over impoverished peasants. Ultimately, the White Cossacks exact revenge on the commune members.
