Army Girl

Captain Dike Conger is tasked with deciding whether the unit should switch from horses to tanks. He teams with Master Sergeant Three Star Hennessy to run evaluations, but faces resistance from officers who want to keep the traditional cavalry horses.

On a friend's suggestion, Conger agrees to a blind date with a civilian, insisting the date be not an 'army girl'. The date turns out to be Julie Armstrong, daughter of Colonel Armstrong, and Conger unexpectedly falls for her.

A formal contest demonstrates that tanks are more effective in battlefield tests. The regiment begins to weigh the future of the unit as the Washington decision looms.

With tanks looking favored, Conger and Julie decide to marry. Their plans are encouraged by the progress, but the looming Washington decision casts a shadow over their future.

Colonel Armstrong confirms that Conger will be replaced as post commander. He tells Conger the decision and that his authority will end.

Julie is angered by the decision, leading her to break the engagement with Conger. The rupture throws their wedding plans into chaos.

Sergeant Ross, rival of Three Star, sabotages the tank meant to carry Conger and Three Star at the transition ceremony. The sabotage is intended to derail the move toward mechanization.

On the day of the ceremony, Colonel Armstrong decides to ride with Three Star in the tank instead of Conger. The wreck, caused by Ross's sabotage, kills Armstrong and Three Star.

Captain Joe Schuyler reaches the tank and overhears Three Star's dying words naming Ross as the saboteur. He chooses not to reveal the information, and Conger is court-martialed for negligence.

Schuyler proposes to Julie, hoping to secure her favor. Julie refuses him, realizing that her love for Conger endures.

Under mounting pressure, Ross is forced to confess before military judges. Conger is exonerated and cleared of blame for the accident.

With the truth proven, Conger reconciles with Julie. They face a hopeful future together after the turmoil and tragedy.
