Kanmani is the wealthy daughter of the village panchayat president and she is arrogant. She clashes with Chinnamani and vows revenge because he doesn't respect her. She decides to learn music from him and pretends to love him.

Chinnamani, along with visitors, goes to Kanmani's house where the truth about their relationship begins to surface. She embarrasses him in front of everyone and even breaks his Harmonium. The public humiliation intensifies their feud.

Angered, Chinnamani retaliates by breaking Kanmani's car while she tries to intervene, and he slaps her in front of witnesses. The feud escalates from a personal clash to a public confrontation. The tension between them deepens as a result.

The panchayat steps in and decides on punishment for Chinnamani. Kanmani is involved in the enforcement by beating him with a whip as decided. This public punishment solidifies the complex bond between anger and obligation.

In a controversial turn, Chinnamani ties the thaali around Kanmani's neck, effectively marrying her without her consent. The act shocks the village and unsettles Kanmani emotionally. The marriage binds them in name, while their true feelings remain unsettled.

Kanmani sends Chinnamani away to move his sister to a safe place and eventually surrenders to the law for the murder. The act demonstrates her acceptance of consequences for the sake of family.

Years pass and Kanmani returns to find Chinnamani a mentally disturbed man still searching for her. She sings a reflective song, rekindling memories and guiding them toward a fragile reunion.
