Amityville Exorcism

A general contractor named Charles Humes is sentenced to death for killing his wife and two daughters with a hammer in Amityville, New York. The verdict sets a dark tone for the case, linking murder to the supernatural claims that will surface later. The town processes the tragedy as a prelude to the haunting events that follow.

The day before his execution, Charles meets with Father Benna. He confides that demons possess him and reside in the lumber he took from 112 Ocean Avenue. The confession hints at the supernatural chain of possession that will drive the later exorcism.

Charles explains the demons live in the tainted wood from 112 Ocean Avenue, a house that was haunted until an exorcism performed by Father Jonas. Jonas died during that exorcism, a death that still haunts Benna. The revelation connects the cursed wood to the current possession gripping the town.

Charles reveals he added the tainted wood to his own home and other properties, then gives Benna a list of affected houses. The implication is that multiple sites may be compromised by the same demonic influence. Benna must decide how to respond to this wider threat.

One of the houses on Charles's list is inhabited by Amy Dukane and her abusive alcoholic father, Jeremy. The pair become central figures as the demon's influence grows. Jeremy's backstory includes the loss of his wife Bonnie in a drunk driving crash caused by him.

A demon begins tormenting Amy and Benna, disemboweling a burglar before implanting Legion into Amy. The attack marks the first overt escalation of the haunting. The possession sets the stage for Amy's transformation.

While Amy is walking in the woods, the demon possessing her attacks and kills a photographer. The murder demonstrates the demon's reach beyond the home and signals the threat to others nearby. The violence escalates the haunting for the characters involved.

Benna visits Jeremy to discuss the haunting, but Jeremy remains skeptical about the house being haunted. He is eventually tormented by visions of Bonnie, his deceased wife, which shake his disbelief. The supernatural harassment increases the tension between the characters.

Amy murders her boyfriend Robby while Benna is blessing the house. The murder shows how far the possession has progressed even as a ritual attempt to expel the demon proceeds. Jeremy and Benna respond to the crisis.

Amy returns from the blessing weakened and is tied to her bed by Benna and Jeremy. The restraint marks the shift from possession to containment as they try to control the dangerous force. The scene heightens the sense of urgent peril.

Amy assumes a hideous visage and plays mind games with Jeremy as she animates dolls that move to attack Benna. The dolls threaten both Benna and the exorcism effort. The haunting intensifies as the exorcism proceeds.

Benna fends off the animated dolls and begins performing an exorcism on Amy. Amy breaks free of her restraints, forces Jeremy out of the room, and summons the demon that implanted Legion. The confrontation moves toward a climactic moment.

The demon taunts Benna as he draws a cross in blood from a wound Amy inflicted. The cross banishes the demon and Legion back to Hell, freeing Amy from possession. The moment marks a hard won victory for the exorcism.

With the haunting ended, Amy and Jeremy reconcile. Benna heads out to deal with the other properties that have 112 Ocean Avenue's cursed wood added to them. The story ends with a sense of ongoing cleansing and danger still present.
