In summer 2000 the Mirusian race hijacks the Deathsphere, a weapon stolen from the Ghastorians. Their ship is shot down and a clumsy crew member—using a mop—survives. He must retrieve the Deathsphere before the Ghastorians arrive. Mistaken for a volleyball, it ends up at a beach party, leading the alien and a group to the house of Mr. Willoughby.
