The trail soon leads to the border city of Tijuana, Mexico, where Wright travels in search of a woman he abandoned decades earlier. As Wright contemplates a return to the United States, the Garza faction closes in, and the scattered pieces of the man’s life begin to come apart. The various forces collide at a bustling market, where Hobbs unexpectedly arrives to take Charlie into custody, prompting the hired gunmen to retreat for the moment. The encounter leaves Wright tethered to a frame of mind he cannot escape: a growing sense of failure that he articulates in a voiceover directed to Isabel, the daughter who represents the life he might have hoped to salvage.
