Achu, a civil engineer hopeful, and Ijo, an advocate, cross paths at a railway station in Trivandrum and strike a tentative friendship. Their chance encounter blossoms into a slow-burning romance as they meet again and again. This initial connection sets the course for the events that follow.

Achu secures a job with a construction company, which improves the family's standard of living. The new job also deepens her bond with Vanaja as they celebrate the progress together. This career boost marks a turning point in their daily life.

Achu shares her wish to marry Ijo with her mother. Vanaja, cautious and protective, agrees to meet Ijo's parents to learn more about him. The exchange raises hopes while foreshadowing future tension.

Ijo takes Vanaja and Achu to a cemetery to reveal his painful past. He explains that he is an orphan and that his family had committed mass suicide during a financial crisis. The revelation shifts Vanaja's view of him and places the relationship under a different light.

Vanaja opposes the marriage, expressing a desire for Achu to marry into a larger, supportive family. Her concerns about security and community create a new rift between mother and daughter. Achu's hopes are suddenly dashed by her mother's abrupt stance.

While Achu recovers, Vanaja opens up to Ijo and shares her difficult past. She explains how she was raised by an old woman and later survived by doing odd jobs. She recounts escaping the flesh trade and adopting the young girl who became Achu, revealing the deep roots of her protective instincts.

Ijo receives the full backstory from Vanaja and then tells Achu about their shared family history. He frames the revelations as a bridge to understanding and reconciliation. Achu begins to reassess her stance and considers her future more openly.

A few days later, Achu returns to Vanaja, overwhelmed by guilt and regret for her earlier outbursts. The two reconcile, and the emotional distance between them begins to close. Their renewed bond strengthens the foundation of the family.

During the reconciliation, it is revealed that Vanaja had adopted another little girl, expanding the family she cares for.
