Keerthi rejects Ganesh because she is already committed to an arranged marriage with her cousin. She comes from an orthodox family where her grandfather has already finalized her marriage plans. When Ganesh's father approaches Keerthi to try to reconcile after Ganesh returns from Australia depressed, Keerthi reacts with anger and slaps both of them. This harsh reaction stems from her frustration with the situation and the pressure from her family.
