After the SS seizes a group of wealthy American Jewish businessmen, they are told they will be exchanged for SS officers—only if the hostages can cover alleged “transportation” bribes. To pressure them, the captors place a striking female singer among the prisoners as leverage. The captives are loaded onto a train bound for a ship that promises freedom, but a cascade of “mishaps” repeatedly stalls their escape.
