In 1883, a Romanian town is ruled by a corrupt elite that decides everything, including who will be the “elected” Senate representative. A love letter from the bachelor mayor to the party chief’s wife is lost, found by a drunken supporter, and given to the opposition. They blackmail the “camarilla” to place their candidate, sparking intrigue.
