In 1883 a Romanian provincial town is controlled by a corrupt elite that picks the county’s Senate representative. A love letter from the bachelor mayor to the chief’s wife is misplaced, found by a drunken supporter and handed to the opposition, who blackmail the local clique to install their candidate, sparking political intrigue.
