Facing extreme poverty, Yuko, the eldest daughter, is sold to a prosperous Kyoto brothel where she becomes the favorite client of Takamatsu. Though Takamatsu falls passionately for her, making her his personal companion, Yuko’s heart drifts toward a young priest, Kunugida. Consumed by jealousy, Takamatsu devises a scheme to drive the lovers apart.
