A Fish Called Wanda

London-based gangster George Thomason devises an elaborate plan for a jewel heist with the help of his right-hand man, Ken Pile. Ken, who loves animals and struggles with a stutter, is eager to assist George in this ambitious endeavor.

To execute the heist, George and Ken bring in two Americans, Wanda Gershwitz and Otto West. Despite their facade of being siblings, it becomes apparent that Wanda and Otto have a romantic relationship, which adds tension and complexity to their partnership.

The jewel heist proceeds smoothly, and the gang successfully escapes with a large haul of diamonds. They decide to hide the stolen gems for safekeeping, unwittingly setting off a chain of betrayals and comedic situations.

Wanda and Otto plot to betray George, which leads to his arrest. Their plan solidifies as they aim to claim the hidden diamonds for themselves, but they soon discover George's cunning move to secure the loot.

Wanda learns that Ken has hidden the diamonds in his fish tank instead of a safe deposit box. Seizing the opportunity, Wanda takes advantage of her charm to stealthily steal the gems hidden within her locket.

To discover the location of the safe deposit box, Wanda focuses her attention on George's barrister, Archie Leach. Despite being unhappily married, Archie becomes infatuated with Wanda, leading to secret meetings that complicate their lives.

Wanda accidentally leaves her locket at Archie’s home, which his wife Wendy mistakes for a gift. This misunderstanding sets off a comedic chase, with Archie desperate to retrieve the locket as Otto grows increasingly jealous.

George orders Ken to eliminate the elderly eyewitness, Mrs. Eileen Coady. However, Ken's attempts at this grim task lead to unintended consequences, including the accidental deaths of her small dogs and ultimately causing Mrs. Coady to suffer a heart attack.

With no eyewitnesses left, George's release seems imminent, but Otto has a different plan. Seeking the location of the diamonds, he turns to unusual and intense interrogation methods with Ken, escalating the tension further.

During George's trial, Wanda surprises everyone by providing testimony that further implicates him in the heist. This betrayal leaves Archie in shock, prompting him to rethink his decisions and ultimately team up with Wanda.

As chaos ensues, Wanda and Archie rush to Ken's flat to find the hidden diamonds. Their plans lead to a series of comical errors, with Wanda and Otto unintentionally ensnaring each other in their convoluted schemes.

The story culminates at Heathrow Airport, where Otto's quest for revenge and the stolen diamonds leads to a dramatic confrontation on the tarmac. Ken, seeking justice for his fish, dramatically appears on a steamroller.

In a twist of fate, Ken accidentally runs over Otto with the steamroller, entangling him in wet concrete. This ludicrous moment adds a comedic finish to the chaotic series of events surrounding the heist.

The conclusion reveals that Archie and Wanda have found happiness together in Rio, where they raise a large family. Meanwhile, Ken carves out a niche at SeaWorld, and Otto finds himself in a surprising new role as the Minister of Justice for South Africa.
