Baron Antonio Peletti, greedy and selfish, hoards the family inheritance—a box of precious jewels—refusing to share it with his town. The mayor and the townspeople devise a ruse, convincing him that he has died. In a staged afterlife they pressure him to reveal the hidden treasure, promising salvation for his soul.
