Four convicts escape a chain‑gang prison just as a blue‑ribbon commission is slated to inspect the facility. In response, the warden implements lavish reforms—steak meals and stage‑show entertainment for inmates. After learning of the changes, the escapees return and beg the warden to let them back in, leaving viewers to wonder if it was a dream.
