Two doctors—Raoul and colleague Clément—both love Juliette, a hairdresser. She first dates Raoul, then Clément, who leaves his fiancée, moves away and asks her for a child. She returns to Raoul. When she later contracts Hodgkin’s disease and treatment fails, Raoul says she has the “malady of love,” leaving all to wonder if a cure finally exists.
