After Surya returns the purse, Kamali begins exchanging letters with him, and their correspondence quickly turns intimate. They also talk through late-night phone calls, sharing their thoughts, hopes, and affection across the distance. Despite never meeting face to face, their emotional connection deepens with every exchange, building a strong foundation for their relationship.

During heavy monsoons in Bangalore, Kamali returns to the city only to find her friend Mary away. She boards an autorickshaw to get around, not knowing it is being driven by Surya. The chance ride brings them into close proximity for the first time, setting the stage for their eventual recognition and reunion.

When Kamali boards Surya's autorickshaw, Surya is wearing the rose-embroidered sweater she sent him. Later, as the Davanagere Express departs, Surya helps Kamali board and then removes his shirt to reveal the sweater. Kamali finally recognizes him as the man she has loved through letters, and they acknowledge their love for each other in this climactic moment.
