On a traveling ferry, Jonnie and his bandmates work as waiters. A dramatic pyrotechnics mishap blows the power, and the crew fires them on the spot, leaving the group stranded on a tiny boat with nothing but their instruments. They drift across the Atlantic and finally reach the Canary Islands, where the open sea gives way to an uneasy, sun-bleached reality.

The misadventure continues as the group washes up in a stark sand dune, miserable and utterly unsure of what comes next. A brief mirage of a ferry teases them, then fades, and they chalk up their strange luck to fate as they resume the direction they were originally heading. In a moment of chaos, Jonnie spots a figure riding an out-of-control camel and rushes to intervene, only to realize he has disrupted a scene being filmed for a movie. The disruption is noticed by the director, Lloyd Davis, who offers him a job as a stunt double and gives the rest of the band roles as runners, turning a setback into an unexpected opportunity.

That evening, a blonde woman sits at his opposite table, absorbed in a script. Her name is Jenny, and she isn’t convinced she has what it takes to be the leading lady. Jonnie counsels her to ignore the cameras and the crew and pretend the world isn’t watching, but the advice falls flat and Lloyd begins to regret hiring her. The idea they could lift the mood of the entire production by turning the film into a musical starts to take hold in the group’s minds. They hide their spare camera behind various objects and secretly film musical numbers, nudging the action forward with their music and a few well-timed lines.

Their covert concert is soon uncovered by a wary Lloyd, who threatens to fire them. Yet Jonnie manages to persuade him to let them continue—so long as they don’t use any of his equipment. Undaunted, the troupe decides to shoot when the real crew isn’t looking, borrowing another camera and quietly plotting a finale that Jenny doesn’t know about. In a bustling restaurant, they trade barbs about Lloyd, all while the on-set tension simmers beneath the surface, unaware that Lloyd and Jenny are seated at the adjacent table. The revelation that Lloyd is Jenny’s father adds another layer to the growing conflict, and he vows to stop their schemes, even ordering Jenny not to go on set the next day.

The next twist comes when [Jonnie] seeks out [Jenny] at a nearby pool and begs her to help them. She agrees, though she makes it clear she never wants to see him again. As filming wraps, Lloyd’s disappointment grows—the final cut still isn’t up to his standards, and Jonnie remains wary of the musical direction. Rather than give up, they choose to blend their ideas, rewriting the tale as a story about two brothers and a princess. The reimagined film premieres to an enthusiastic audience, and the applause is loud enough to draw Lloyd’s gratitude toward Jonnie. In a final beat, he reveals that [Jenny] wants to marry him, sealing a bittersweet twist that lingers beyond the screen.
