Ok‑bun is sold into marriage to the dying Lee Kyung‑jin family. On her wedding night her husband Myung‑kyu dies mysteriously; she discovers her sisters‑in‑law Kyung‑ran and Young‑suk, married to Myung‑kyu’s brothers, also died that night. The vengeful spirit Wol‑ah rises, kills Shin, assumes his form, and infiltrates the household, prompting a series of murders. Ok‑bun confronts Wol‑ah at her grave, pleading the suffering of the poor; the ghost’s heart softens. Ok‑bun barely escapes with her life.
