This documentary uses period clips and reminiscences from stars such as Gloria Swanson, Mary Pickford and Marlene Dietrich to reveal the era’s overt sexuality and the artistic freedom that prompted the Code’s strict enforcement from 1934 to 1968. Diane Lane provides narration.
