Combining surrealist visuals, avant‑garde sound collage and a dry, irreverent humor, Len Lye transforms a modest government‑sponsored wartime cookery short into a work of genuine artistic depth. The film follows a mother who lifts her ration‑starved daughter's spirits by sharing a humble pie, never directly mentioning the war, yet retaining a warm, unpretentious charm.
