After a rare butterfly species is discovered in a hidden Japanese valley, two entomologists venture inside to study it. There they encounter Varan, a colossal creature that dwarfs even Godzilla and Rodan. The monster awakens, escapes the valley, and barrels toward Tokyo, threatening the capital.
