In London, Mike begins the day by accepting money from an older couple. He notices a mysterious violin-wielding woman watching him, giving him an eerie sense of being watched. This encounter foreshadows the strange experiences that will thread through his day.

Mike discovers his wallet is missing and accuses his friend Nathan during a confrontation outside a café. A passerby named Simon intervenes and helps defuse the tense moment. Mike retrieves his wallet and apologizes, while Simon offers to help by buying him a sandwich.

In a rush of panic, Mike knocks Simon unconscious, steals his watch, and runs to a pawn shop to sell it. CCTV footage captures the crime, and he is arrested and remanded to prison. He calls his mother, who responds coldly, before being processed into custody.

Upon release, a prison officer warns Mike not to return. He meets Nadia, who supports his reintegration and places him in a hostel temporarily. Mike reveals that he is adopted and lacks meaningful family support, which deepens his isolation.

Mike finds clothes at a charity shop for a chef job interview but flees when Nathan appears. Later, during the interview, he admits his criminal record. Franco, the restaurant owner, decides to hire him for a trial shift, offering him a chance to prove himself.

During his shift, Mike is asked to handle a food complaint, which he resists but ultimately addresses. His frustration drives him into the storeroom, where he slips into another dream-like vision of the cave. The tension foreshadows trouble with reliability and control.

Returning to the shelter he once used, Mike ingests drugs and follows the violin player into a dark stone hallway that leads to a chapel room. Inside, Nathan waits in a robe beside a head sculpture, and he guides Mike toward a door. Nathan abruptly opens it and throws Mike into a void, sending him tumbling, where he curls into a fetal position and disappears into darkness.
