Also released as “Letter from Venice,” Susan Sontag’s fourth and final film follows a couple whose bond is unraveling while they wander through the crumbling, dreamlike ruins of Venice. The portrait intertwines the city’s decaying architecture with the partners’ fragmenting relationship, offering an experimental, hallucinatory meditation on loss and memory.
