The narrative occurs approximately twenty years after the original Ultraman series' lunar battle with Yapool and U-Killersaurus. The present-day setting in modern Kobe represents a bridge between the Ultra Brothers' ancient cosmic duties and current human-scale threats. This two-decade gap explains why the brothers are now bound to human hosts and operating in a weakened state.

Foreshadowing: The prologue's lunar battle establishes the timeline that explains the brothers' diminished powers on Earth.
